30 Our Kids Canada's Camp & Program Guide – 21st Annual R egistration for camp next year often begins even before the current camp season is over. And while next summer can seem a long way off, there are lots of benefits to signing up early, including financial ones: some camps will offer early registration for the next year at this year's fee. Consistency is important, and if you have a chance to send your child to the same camp, with many of the same campers and staff, so much the better. Spots can fill up quickly and, if you leave it too long, you may find yourself scrambling. After registering your child, you will find that there are some forms to be completed, all of them important. The director needs to gather enough information to care for your child properly and to meet all provincial, national, and professional standards of care. All information will be treated with confidentiality in accordance with the Privacy Act and will be relayed to staff only on a need- to-know basis. HEALTH FORM Full disclosure on health forms is essential, and you'll also be asked to send along a photocopy of your child's health card. You will be asked for a complete health history and to list current conditions, medications, and sleeping and eating habits. The more detail you give, the better. International campers will require supplementary health insurance. PERSONAL INFORMATION FORM This form is an opportunity to let the director know of any significant changes in your child's life, such as a family move or a serious illness in the immediate family. A coun- sellor can be better prepared and more effective knowing about a child's goals, fears, siblings, pets, or previous camp experience. Again, all information is distributed only on a CAMP REGISTRATION A DETAILED GUIDE TO ENSURING YOUR SPOT AT CAMP Centauri Summer Arts Camp Photograph by Peter Power for Our Kids
